About Saint:
First missionary to the Guarani people in Paraguay was Roque GonzŠlez de Santa Cruz, a Jesuit priest. As a result, he is revered by Catholics as a martyr and a saint. Roque Gonzalez y de Santa-Cruz was born in Asuncion, Paraguay's capital, in 1576, the son of noble Spanish parents. Nobody doubted that Roque would become a priest because of his exceptional moral character.
