Soldiers and France both have St. Joan of Arc as their patroness. Joan of Arc was born on January 6, 1412, to pious French peasant parents in the village of Domremy, which is located in the Lorraine region of France. The new bishop of Orlťans, Fťlix Dupanloup, admired Joan of Arc and led attempts to have her beatified in 1909. Joan of Arc was a 16th-century Catholic League symbol. The Pope canonized her on May 16, 1920.
