Jesus' apostle, son of Zebedee and Salome. There were only a few of the Apostles who did not abandon Jesus during His crucifixion. When Jesus asked him to be His mother's protector, he remained steadfastly at the cross. Patron saint of love, friendship, and authors is St. John.
