Often referred to as the daughter of wisdom, Sophia was the mother of three children named Faith, Hope, and Charity. They were tortured and beheaded for failing to bow to the ruler. She is said to have died three days later while praying at their grave. She is the venerated patron saint invoked against late frost and celebrated on May 15th.
