Saint Blaise
One of the most revered martyrs of Christianity is Blaise of Sebaste, a physician and bishop of Sebaste in Armenia (now Sivas, Turkey). There are many churches around the world that revere Blaise as a saint. He is the patron saint of wool-combers and throat disease. While his feast day in the Eastern Church is on February 11, the Latin Church celebrates St. Valentinus on February 3. Acta Sanctorum says he was beheaded after being beaten and attacked with iron combs.
