Saint Leo the Great

Born in Italy, he reigned as pope from 440 to 461. His humility and eloquence saved the city of Rome from invaders, including Attila and Genseric. Although his background history is scanty, this pope and doctor served the church and exercised his priestly role at every opportunity. He died on April 11, 1461. His liturgical color is white, and he is the patron saint of popes and confessors.
