According to the New Testament, St. Jude was one of Jesus' twelve apostles. Thaddeus is a common name for him. At the Last Supper, Jude questioned Jesus about why He would not appear to the entire world following His resurrection. An anti-heretical letter to the Eastern Churches, in particular the Jews who had converted, was written by him in response to the Simonians, Nicolaites, and Gnostics' heresies.
