About Saint:
"Apostle to the Americas" was St. Louis, a Dominican friar from Spain who traveled to South America in the 16th century and preached there. The Catholic Church recognizes him as a saint and honors him as such. In the final two years of his life, he endured excruciating pain, but he continued to preach. His body was eventually taken from the pulpit to his bed, where he died eighteen months later after never having gone. October 9 is the feast day for him.
